  • See how, with the shoe on the left, three curls of lavender “pearls” (and the start of a fourth) work together to form a swoop from toe to top of the shoe
  • See also how the next design move was the darker purple pearlsworven within the lavender, following and emphasizing the swoops.
  • Everything else is fill patterns

The rear portion of all the boots have a particular pattern application, with pearls curling over a background of a plaid integrating all 12 colors comprising this design. Yes, each boot has 12 colors, each color playing a position like an instrument in an orchestra.

This shoe, called “Klimt” departs a little from the design principles coming before it, having a lighter, more open tracery effect. I think it has too many colors.

This pair was a commission, to pull the colors from this painting by Gustav Klimt

Here are the 12 colors I extracted from the Klimt painting, labeled in the little cups, and everything registered on the color cards so I will know later exactly what I did.

Twelve colors, just like the one before and the one that comes next…but it’s all in how they play together…
